Mgr. Viera Zavarčíková
The Founder and CEO
She studied at the Faculty of Education at Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica. She studied specialization Slovak language and Arts and crafts. She has more than 30 years pedagogical, methodical, leading and art experience, for instance she prepared art sketches for ERPO. Moreover, she was the chief of grapgic design department in PR company GRATEX International a.s. (1997-98). Her last exhibition took place on the 12th of December 2000 – ”To the King of peace and love” in the gallery Blumentál. She is not only the founder of the Academy of animation but also the author of Animation study programme (year 2001) 8259 M and co-author (year 2004) 8296 M of Graphic Design. Furthermore, she is the founder of the first multimedia textbooks in Slovakia – textbooks of computer animation, computer graphic and textbook of History of art and culture. In addition, she is the founder of study programme – University of animation (UAT) – courses in classic animation and computer animation accredited by the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic under the number 1120 which were organised for the first time in January 1997. She is also the founder of International animation festival of secondary schools ANIMOFEST (2006), International Graphic design competition of secondary schools UAT GRAPHIC (2010), International Photographic design competition of secondary schools UAT PHOTO(2011), International competition of Fashion design UAT FASHION (2015) and International Film competition for secondary school students UAT FILM (2016). In addition, she is the founder and co-author of the project – University of film work and multimedia for vocational education of the adults (2014).
Mgr. Ján Mózer
The principal of the Academy of animation
He studied at Prešov University, Prešov. He is member of SVVU – company of free artists. He is interested in painting which is usually inspired by cubism and futurism. He showed his Works in the following places: SND, University library in Bratislava, Horehronské museum Brezno, Museum of Warhol family in Medzilaborce, Šariš museum Bardejov, Barreiro in Portugal, SNM Museum of Jewish culture Bratislava, Elektráreň Tatra gallery, Eisenstadt Austria Hans der Bewegung. He is a teacher of figure drawing at our Academy.
Mgr. Ivana Korenková
principial’s representative
She studied History of Arts and Culture at Trnava University. She also studied Economics and Management at the Pan-European University in Bratislava. She attended a study program in Osnabrück, Germany. She can speak English and German fluently. She participated in Erasmus programs, too. She is a teacher of Economics and History of Arts, plus she is a deputy headmistress.
Mgr. Jarmila Franková
Vice principal
Studied at Faculty of Pedagogy in Nitra and has more than 30 years of experience in slovak language in literature, civics, philosophy. In Slovak language she succesfully took the first and second qualification exams, as well as taking part in adaptive, specialized and innovative education. Besides being a class teacher she also worked as a coordinator in drug prevention, school librarian and head teacher for newcomers. She led a theater group and took in regional competitions. She also succesfully prepared students for regional and national reciting competitions.
Mgr. art. Matúš Zajac
He is a photographer, lecturer and curator. He studied Photograpy at Film and TV school of Academy of performing Arts in Prague. He also studied Photography at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. He published his own books like Pictures of faith ( 2011 ), OUT ( 2014 ), Anton Srholec – homeless as employment ( with Pištom Vandalom, 2015 ). He was awarded as Best of Photojournalism in editing/ .týžďeň /, Czech Press Photo and Slovak Press Photo. He is photography lecturer at the Faculty of Arts at the Comenius University in Bratislava. He displayed his works at his own exhibitions in the USA, China, Germany,Luxembourg, France, Italy, the Czech Republic, etc. He is one of well known documentary photographers in Slovakia.
Mgr. art. Martin Levinne
Martin Levin studied graphics at the prestigious Art Institute in Los Angeles. He worked as a graphic designer, art director at advertising and the media, and as a freelance photographer. His clients are the Miramax film studios, Sony Pictures, Warner Bros, Columbia, broadcasters MTV, HBO, VH1. He published in magazines Rolling Stone, New York Times, Washington Post, Reuters, Spiegel, Stern. He photographed for the brands Guess, Prada and Speedo. He presented his photos on solo and group exhibitions in the United States, Japan and Europe. He has won many awards for his work. He is the author of cycles Angels and Everything is otherwise. He shoots black and white and color portraits, series, travel photos, organizes individual workshops, writes interesting blogs and preparing edition of his photos in book form. He lives and works alternately in Los Angeles, Bratislava and Prague. At our school he teaches photographic work and practice.
Mgr. art. Daniela Schredlová
She studied Textile design at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. She displayed her works on her exhibitions in cooperation with Slovak Art Union. She worked as a secondary teacher. She was a principal of Art school. In hospital she worked as a therapist providing art therapy for the blind, the deaf and the disabled. She also spends her free by painting and drawing.
Ing. arch. Jaroslav Baran
Ing. arch. Jaroslav Baran was a member of creative teams in Animation studios, Bratislava – Koliba. He was the last director of these studios. Mr. Baran is the first animation instructor in Slovakia. He organised workshops in Slovakia, Portugal, France and Japan. He is a member of the committee of grants AF MK SR and AVF, committee for mass media education MK SR and member of AWG ASSIFA. He worked on 4 graduation films. He was also the director of approximately 150 children’s films. Moreover, he worked as the animator, the main animator or the director on 5 full-length animation films e.g. Marco Polo returns to Xanadu (USA), which was nominated for an Oscar in 2002, King Macius (Germany, France, Poland), The true story of Pravdivý príbeh Barona Prášil,…132 animation films, TV series – Knight Pinkie, Bruno and Benjamín, Media spies, Mr. Toti, well-known Jurošík, Krasulienka (Luxemburg), Flitze (ZDF, Germany), Litle Penguin (King Roll, UK), Kuliočko (Ebyhome video, UK, Animax), Malý kráľ Matúš (Poland, Germany, France), Wiesendetektive (Germany),… and many advertisements in Slovak and foreign production. In addition, he is the director and artist of popular animation series OVCE, which was awarded by 9 awards in Slovakia and abroad.
Ing. Karol Holubčík
He studied animation at Academy of Fine Arts and Design, Bratislava. He worked as an animator and a director in Koliba. He won the film journalists award in 1996. He works as a director, artist, animator on advertisements: Coca-cola, Milka, Mainl, T-mobil, OMV… He also cooperates with studios in Europe: Austria, Germany, England, Belgium…He works as a character animator on the following Tv series: Mr. Bean, Kipper, Angelina Ballerina, Meg and Mog ….He created 50 short spots for Bavarian Tv. Moreover, he cooperated on production of videoclips and evening series which many of them were awarded: Zlín, IAFF New York…. He is engaged in his own work and animation studio Griffel. His name guarantees specialization – Animation. He is teacher of classic animation.
Mgr. Dušan Blahút PhD.
He studied at the department of Mass Media at University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava. Nowadays, he works as a teacherat this University. He works in 3D animation and visualisations. Moreover, he has been working in the field of graphics for 20 years. Furthermore, he created and cooperated in various TV programmes, videoclips and advertisements.He attended strenuous motion capture training which was provided by English company Vicon Support. He is the teacher of computer animation, programme 3D Studio MAX, After Effects and Motion Capture.
Slavo Turanec
A young animator currently studying in his senior year at the Faculty of Film and Television at VSMU. He completed his post-graduate studies here at SSUS. Besides his teaching duties he also works with many Slovak musicians via animated clips and musical visualisations. He also creates comic books and caricatures in his pastime. In our school he teaches the history of animated movie and computer animation (Toon Boom Harmony).
Ján Drobný
After graduation at the Academy of animation he applies himself to computer animation and graphics. He worked on EU project Big Picture Network, interactive Project ,,We are one bodyˮ. He attended strenuous motion capture training which was provided by English company Vicon Support. In his free time he is a co-driver in Rally SR. At the academy of animation he is the teacher of Computer animation 3D Studio Max.
Ing. Štefan Kováčik
Studied industrial design of furniture at the Technical University in Zvolen but spent most of his professional life working with computer graphics. He has experience in a number of graphical programs, especially 3D graphics. Besides visualisations he also works with 3D animations and motion graphics. He teaches the application 3ds Max.
Mgr. Jana Šifrová
Mgr. Erika Gerbócová
She studied Education specialised in history and aesthetics at Faculty of Arts, Prešov University. During her studies she took interest in history of aesthetics in connection with perception of art and culture. It resulted in Student´s science conference where her main aim was aesthetics in works of Mexican painter Frida Kahlo. She graduated with honours led by the head of Institute of Aesthetics, Art and Culture prof. PhDr. Jana Sošková, CSc. Today she teaches history and history of art culture.
Mgr. Eleonóra Šmídová
She studied Mathematical analysis at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics of the Comenius University in Bratislava. She also attended an additional course for teachers at MFF UK in Bratislava to gain pedagogical certificate. She has had a rich experience with teaching Maths and IT at secondary schools. During her pedagogical career she attended courses focused on current and innovative education, for example Project learning in the process of education and Working with an Interactive board. She has also gained a qualification in legislative for school leaving exams. At the Academy of animation she is a teacher of Maths and IT.
Mgr. art. Štefan Kubovič
He studied Graphics at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. He displayed his works on his exhibitions in Riverum of book – Pittsburgh, USA; Coup De Lune in Paris, France; Art Zwieg, Germany; Cafe SNG – Bratislava, Gallery Medium – Bratislava and many other towns in Slovakia. He won the second place for the most beautiful stamp in 2000 and the first place for the most beautiful stamp in Slovakia in 2004. He worked for 10 years in advertising agencies. He pays his attention to graphics, painting, graphic design and stamp creating. He is the teacher of Designing, Font and Aesthetics / ethics.
Mgr. art. Barbora Jankovičová
She graduated from STU in Bratislava, Faculty of Architecture, majoring in interior design. Later, she worked in 3D visualizations, interior design and consulting. She is currently working on computer 2d graphics and interior design. She teaches computer graphics at school – Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign and the subject Designing and Typography.
Mgr. Lucia Halimovič
She studied Arts and Pedagogy at Constantine the Philosopher University. In her free time, she is interested in photography, graphics and fashion design. In the past she exhibited her photographies at an exhibition called Man and nature. In the future she is planning to organise the exhibition of portraits called Sweet flowers. In addition, she also works for famous online magazine. She is the teacher of computer graphics– Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, Art preparation and sculpture pottery.
Dominik Prokop
After graduating from Animation at the Private Secondary Art School of Animation, he has been actively involved in film production and video work, from shooting to final post-production. At Animofest in 2016 and 2017 he won the Audience Award, Honorable Mention and 3rd place for his student films twice. After graduating from SSUŠAT he became an employee of the Slovak National Gallery, for which he worked as a tutor of art workshops and created several short videos, spots and animation. At present, she is mainly engaged in her own creation, poetry and assistance in various other independent projects. She teaches Adobe AfterEffects at our school.
Mgr. Adam Frank
Studied at the Faculty of Arts in Bratislava in the field of English laguage and philosophy. During his studies he worked as a tutor in various language schools. He teaches English.
Mgr. Vladimíra Nociarová
She graduated from Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, majoring in translation and interpreting combined with English and Russian. After graduation she worked as a coordinator of secondary school stays abroad and completed a study of pedagogical minimum at Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica. In our school she works as a teacher of English language and ethical education.
Mgr. Tatiana Šuniarová
She graduated from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Prešov in the field of teaching English and German. She worked as a teacher of English and German at universities. She also attended the European Conference Interpreting Course at the Department of German Studies at the Comenius University in Bratislava. She teaches English and civics at our school.
Mgr. art. Lukáš Freytag
He achieved Bc. degree at the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystricia in Studio of graphics led by doc. R. Bruna, akad. mal. He completed his study and achieved Mgr degree at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. He is interested in traditional graphics, painting, illustration and comics focused on figure depiction. He displayed his art works at various exhibitions not only in Slovakia but also abroad. He was awarded by Egon Schiele award in 2017. He is a teacher of Figure drawing.
Mgr. art. Martin Král
He studied at the Studio of Free Printmaking and Illustration at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. He diploma thesis with a title Modification was awarded by the Award of Slovak Art Union at the 5th year of Bienále. His paintings deal with a portrait which is mainly focused on changes and images of current human being. He also displayed his own works at some exhibitions in Slovakia and abroad like in Ostrava, Zagreb, Bulgary and New York. He is interested in illustrations, storyboards, catalogues, posters and banners. Nowadays, he tries to achieve PhD. at the Faculty of Education at the Comenius University.
Mgr. art. Simona Hojsíková
She graduated at the art high school in Trencin in advertising. She completed her bachelor studies at Paneuropska University in Bratislava where she studied media design at the Faculty of Mass Media. She continued her studies at VSVU Bratislava in visual communication. She started out in Atelier 303 under Mgr. art. Marcel Bencik, ArtD. and completed her studies at TypoLab under the guidance of Mgr. art. Palo Balik. She took part in many workshops and exhibitions. Her master’s thesis was presented during Bratislava Design Week. Currently works as a freelancer in graphic design. She teaches Adobe Indesign, Adobe Illustrator and WordPress.
Mgr. Katarína Lazárová
She studied Photographic design at a secondary art school in Ružomberok. She studied Arts at the Catholic University in Ružomberok. Then, she continued her study at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava where she attended the photographic training led by prof. Ľubo Stacho. She is mainly interested in black and white photography. At the Academy of animation she is an Art and photography teacher.
Bc. Erika Daxnerová
Studied at SUS Trencin in fashion design and continues her studies at VSVU Bratislava under the guidance of Julia Sabova. She completed her bachelor degree and is currently in her senior year or her master’s studies. She is involved in a number of projects and collaborations. In our school she teaches Technology. Tailoring and Fashion.
Mgr. Staša Samoukovičová
Completed her studies at SSUSAT in graphic design. Studied at the Faculty of Pedagogy in Bratislava in the field or art education. She worked mainly with illustration and graphics on a surreal level. Teaches history of art in English language at a bilingual high school. In our school she teaches creative workshop.
Mgr. Mária Šebová
She graduated from the Art School of Stage Design in the field of Stage Decorative Art and Reproduction Painting and Art Education at Comenius University in Bratislava. She worked as a pedagogue at elementary school, elementary art school and also focused on children with mental developmental disabilities. In addition to teaching, she also devotes to drawing, painting, sculpture and jewelry. In our school he teaches subjects such as design, typography and art preparation.
Mgr. art. Róbert Szabó ArtD.
He studied at the Film and Television Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts, where completed a doctorate with doctoral dissertation on the topic: Sound mastering in the digital environment. He worked as a sound master in Slovak Radio, then in Slovak Television and on different post-production companies. Currently, in addition to sound mastering he also works as an editor in Slovak Television. As a sound engineer and editor he works on various television shows, animated films and student films. At our school teaches Film Sound Dramaturgy, software Samplitude and film editing program Canopus Edius.
Monika Mahútová
Studied advertising at the art high school in Trencin. She worked in film criticism and currently studies the Faculty of film and television at VSMU Bratislava in the field of writing and directing. In our school she studies audiovisual work.
Mgr. art. Sonia Gallo
Graduated from the Department of Documentary Film at the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica. Director of documentary films – What will be left after us (2016) attended the EtnoFilm Čadca 2016 and the Folklore and Traditions Film Festival 2017, where the film won the Special Jury Prize. A year later, the Cinematik Film Festival also presented the documentary film eL (2018). In her spare time she devotes herself to making short videos and watercolor illustrations. In our school he teaches visual art, audiovisual technology, projection and analysis, film history, audiovisual studio.
Bc. Lena Magulová
She studied Photography Design at the Secondary School of Fine Arts in Trenčín. After reaching his bachelor’s degree, she continues to study Audiovisual Studies at the Film and Television Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. She is particularly interested in documentary, experimental or non-narrative film, the overlap of film and fine arts, intermedia or film in the gallery space. In the past, she worked in Foajé, the smallest cinema in Bratislava, trained at the Art Film Festival in Košice and in the editorial board of the Academy of Audiovisual Studies at VŠMU, or lectured at the Lumière film club in Bratislava. Currently, she regularly publishes on home web (Kinečko) and print (Film.sk) film platforms. At our school she teaches the history of Slovak and world cinema.
PhDr. Viera Suchomerová
She studied catechist and ethical education at the Roman Catholic Catholic Theological Faculty of Comenius University in Bratislava. Since 2000 she works as a teacher of religious education. The Archbishop’s Office in Bratislava granted her a canonical mission until 31 August 2020.
Mgr. Marián Paliatka
At the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports at Comenius University in Bratislava he studied teaching Physical Education and Civics. As part of his studies specialization was coaching swimming which actively performs in some swimming clubs. He teaches subjects Physical Education, Civics and Biology at school.
